Captains, chief engineers, and all personnel directly responsible for taking precautions related to fuels and fuel systems on board ships subject to the IGF Code, as well as for the use of such fuels and fuel systems.
PREREQUISITES
- Basic training certification for cargo operations on liquefied gas tankers
- A valid seafarer medical certificate confirming fitness for duty at sea, issued less than 12 months ago
OBJECTIVES
- Gain a solid understanding of the physical and chemical properties of fuels used on ships subject to the IGF Code
- Operate fuel controls for propulsion systems, machinery systems, and safety devices on board
- Be able to safely carry out and monitor all operations related to the fuels used
- Plan and supervise bunkering, storage, and securing of fuels safely
- Take precautions to prevent environmental pollution caused by fuel spills
- Monitor and ensure compliance with regulations
- Apply health and safety measures and precautions
- Prevent, control, and fight fires, and use fire-fighting equipment effectively
DURATION
36 hours (30 hours of theory + 6 hours of simulator training)

- Machinery installations using gas as fuel and related regulations
- Safe operation of ships using fuels covered by the IGF Code

- Remote controls of propulsion systems and machinery operating on these fuels
- Fuel storage spaces under the IGF Code / Safe bunkering operations / Pollution prevention / Hydrogen storage techniques
